Rain Chains Lap Quilt Pattern

Home » Quilt Patterns » Rain Chains Lap Quilt Pattern

Meet Rain Chains — a quilt pattern that’s basically a magic trick! The interlocking links flowing across the top look incredibly complex, but here’s the secret: it’s just three fabrics and some trusty Half Square Triangles.

The woven, chain-like movement comes together from blocks that are way more approachable than they appear. A few three-part Quarter Square Triangles join the party, and suddenly you’ve got this bold, dimensional design that’ll have people asking, “How did you DO that?”

At about 54″ × 68″, it’s the perfect lap size — cozy enough to actually use, impressive enough to show off. Modern prints, florals, bold solids — this pattern plays well with just about anything you throw at it. The repeating blocks build a lovely rhythm as you go, and the borders tie everything together, keeping all eyes on those showstopping chain links.
